State Fair Community College Softball Head Coach Lyndsey Talbot has accepted a position as the Director of Innovation at the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) in Louisville, Kentucky.

"I will be responsible for various NFCA educational events, sponsorships, membership initiatives, and programming," said Talbot. "I will also serve as the liaison for the NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association) coaches."

Talbot led the SFCC softball program for the first six seasons of its existence. In 2021-2022, SFCC earned the program's third consecutive NJCAA Academic Team Award. This past spring, Talbot earned one of the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame's Diamond 9 Awards.

"Lyndsey is not only an outstanding player and coach, but she also has outstanding organizational and problem-solving skills," said SFCC Athletic Director Darren Pannier. "She is a unique head coach that we were very blessed to have for the last six years. Words cannot express what she has meant to State Fair Community College, as well as the State Fair Community College Softball program. She started a program from scratch and built it up into a solid program. Her team was the first team to earn an NJCAA Academic Team Award at State Fair Community College. I wish Lyndsey the best of luck in her new position and thank her for everything that she has done for both SFCC and our athletic department."

"The program has definitely come a long way in the past six years," said Talbot. "I've grown as a coach throughout my time at SFCC. A big key to making the program successful was having good assistant coaches. You have to bring in people that you can trust because you can't do this alone. The support throughout the athletic department and the college for the softball program has been huge; that is something I'll miss."

One of the cornerstones of the softball program has been the student-athletes' success in the classroom.

"Working hard in the classroom is a credit to the students that we were able to bring in," said Talbot. "They know what's important at the end of the day for the rest of their lives. They have great things to say about the instructors and the classes they attend here at State Fair."

The program has had 39 student-athletes who earned NJCAA Academic Student-Athlete Awards at SFCC. Talbot has also coached eight student-athletes who have continued their academic and athletic careers at four-year colleges or universities.

"I would like to thank SFCC Athletic Director Darren Pannier for taking a chance on me six years ago," said Talbot. "If he wouldn't have taken that risk, I don't know where I would be today. I appreciate everything he has done."
