On Jan. 7, State Fair Community College will host its third free “FAFSA Frenzy” event Jan. 20 in person on the Sedalia campus and online.

Both options require an appointment. These live sessions help thousands of Missouri students complete their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine eligibility for grants, loans, work-study and scholarships from federal, state or institutional financial aid programs.

The session will be held 3-6 p.m. Jan. 20. Contact Financial Aid & Veteran Services at finaid@sfccmo.edu or call (660) 530-5834 to schedule either an in-person or virtual appointment. People who choose an in-person meeting are allowed to bring one guest and must wear face coverings. Those scheduling a virtual appointment will need to have the capability to join a Zoom meeting with video via https://sfccmo.zoom.us/j/91504005267.

Financial aid professionals will assist participants in completing the 2021-2022 FAFSA and provide pertinent information about federal and state funding and scholarships.

Items and information needed at the time of the appointment are based on whether the prospective students are independent or dependent. Following is the list for each status:

Independent Student: Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID Username and Password (created at fsaid.ed.gov) ; 2019 tax forms; student’s and spouse’s 2019 W-2s; asset and untaxed income information; Social Security Number; date of birth; marital status and date of status

Dependent Student:  FSA ID for student and one parent; student’s and parent(s’) 2019 tax forms; student’s and parent(s’) 2019 W-2s; student’s and parent(s’)s assets and untaxed income information; student’s and parent(s’) Social Security Numbers; student’s and parent(s’) dates of birth; parent(s’) marital status and date of status

FAFSA Frenzy is part of national efforts to promote FAFSA completion and has been offered in Missouri since 2004 through partnerships between the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development (MDHEWD), Missouri Association of Student Financial Aid Personnel, Missouri Higher Education Loan Authority, and National College Access Network.

Students attending a FAFSA Frenzy event can register to win a $500 Journey to College Book Scholarship if they attend a Missouri FAFSA Frenzy event and have plans to enroll in a Missouri college or university in fall 2021. The MDHEWD will award 20 scholarships in partnership with the Missouri Scholarship & Loan Foundation and MyScholarship Central.
