In a battle of #1 vs #5 seeds, Sacred Heart defeated the Green Ridge Tigers in the first round of the Kaysinger Conference Tournament.

After a scoreless first half, the Gremlins wasted no time in the second half, scoring in the second minute of play.  Senior Kobey Hill touched home his second goal of the season off a beautiful corner kick by Freshman Jackson Manning. Senior John Ulbrich provided a two goal cushion with a blast down the middle for his fifth goal of the year.

Senior Dallin Chappell was in goal for a fifth straight shutout for the Gremlins and recorded five saves. Chappell’s best moment was when he came off his line for an excellent play on a dangerous 50/50 ball in the second half.

Sacred Heart’s record improves to 7-4 on the season.  Sacred Heart will also see the return of Junior Ian Viscarra in the near future. Viscarra was tied as the leading scorer for the Grems last season but has been sidelined with a broken foot for the past seven games.

The addition of a returning all-state player should make the Gremlins formidable for the second half of the season, according to coach Sam Jones.
