Facing their second Class 3 team in as many days, the Sacred Heart Gremlins boys soccer team lost to Jefferson City in both the varsity and junior varsity games.

The Gremlins traveled to Jefferson City early Saturday morning for the match with the Jays.

Sacred Heart came out a bit sluggish for the 9 am game and lost 0-4. Jefferson City scored all 4 goals in the first half. Their first goal was 11 minutes into the game with - unfortunately for sophomore goalie Zander Jackson -  a very skilled chip shot that was unstoppable. The Jays scored off a corner kick with 13:50 left and 30 seconds later to make the score 0-3. Jefferson City scored once more with 11 seconds left in the first half.

The varsity team played great defense in the second half, but couldn't get on the scoreboard during the final 40 minutes, losing 0-4.

The SH junior varsity team played one half of a game, losing to Jefferson City's JV team 0-2. Junior goalie Vladimir Lopez stopped a scoring attempt by the Jays, but suffered an injury that required several stitches just above his right eye. Freshman Logan Howell finished out the game as the Gremlins' goalie.

Sacred Heart opens their home season hosting Smithton Tuesday, Sept. 13 at Clover Dell Park.
