Slater Man Dies in ATV Rollover

A Slater man died after the ATV he was driving flipped over several times on Saturday evening.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol 35-year-old Malcom W. Smith of Slater was the driver of a southbound 2018 Polaris 900 on Route AC, 850 feet south of Route P in Saline County at 7:45 p.m. July 6 when he began sliding, traveled off the left side of the roadway and overturned several times.

Smith was pronounced dead at the scene by Saline County Coroner William Harlow at 8:42 p.m. The body was transported to Weiker Funeral Home in Slater.

There was no damage to the Polaris, the report stated.

Troopers were assisted by the Saline County Sheriff's Office, as well as Slater EMS and Fire personnel.
