As you get older one of the first things you find out is that sleep is your friend and naps are your BEST friend! Now for me, the lack of either can play out to make your next day after sleep-deprivation a very long day.

Last night was one of those nights. A combination of late night play with my cornhole league and some type of heartburn, my eyes didn't close much, in fact, I think my eyelids are mad at me for keeping them up for an overnight workout.

Now one of the benefits of getting up early and into work is I get off at around 2 p.m. Now the bad part of getting up early is I have to get to bed early. Try around eight p.m.! I'm constantly looking for an over-the-counter product to not only help me fall asleep but also help keep me asleep throughout the night.

I currently take a product from Walgreens (shamless plug) called Wal-Sleep Z. It usually does the trick. It contains Diphenhydramine. Now from what I understand this is basically like taking a Benadryl. (Another shamless plug)

I've read reports that taking Diphenhydramine can lead to the early onset of Alzheimer's Disease. Hmmm...I definitely don't want to help with the progress of this horrid deisease. So the question is what else is there to take?

I've tried the natural stuff...melatonin, valerian root, etc. Nothing seems to keep me asleep. I know everyone is different, so my question for you is, have you found anything that really seems to work for you?
