Area authorities made one arrest after pursuing a stolen vehicle through three different counties that came to an end in Pettis Co.

A press release from the Morgan County Sheriff's Department indicates that Tuesday morning, the Miller County Sheriff received a report of a stolen vehicle south of Eldon.

According to the information, the 2012 Ford Fusion had been stolen at gunpoint. Morgan County deputies then responded to east Highway 52 to keep a lookout for the stolen vehicle.

A short time later, the vehicle was spotted on Highway 52 and Morgan Co. deputies attempted to make a traffic stop near Brookside Road. At that time, the vehicle did not stop but continued traveling on Hwy 52.

Deputies in Versailles then reportedly attempted to deploy stop sticks, however the driver of the vehicle took "evasive" action to avoid them.

At that time, the suspect vehicle then traveled to Highway 5 towards Fortuna. The Highway Patrol then attempted to deploy more stop sticks near the Moreau Creek Bridge but were unsuccessful in stopping the vehicle.

As the vehicle continued traveling, Tipton Police then attempted to deploy stop sticks at Highway 5 and Route NN, with the suspect once again avoiding them and traveling through Tipton and onto Highway 50 northbound.

Stop sticks were deployed several more times by authorities starting at the Pettis/Morgan County line.

According to the press release, one of the stop sticks was successful and deflated the right rear tire on the vehicle. The driver eventually lost control and the vehicle spun into the south ditch near Highway 50 and Rissler Road at 11:17 a.m.. The driver was taken into custody at that time.

A search of the vehicle reportedly revealed a Smith & Wesson pistol and approximately 3 pounds of high grade marijuana.

During the pursuit, Morgan County R-1 in Stover and Morgan County R-2 in Versailles were placed on lockdown as a precaution due to the subject possibly being armed.

The suspect, 18-year old Kayondez Ronelle Avalo, was charged in Morgan County with Felony Possession of A Controlled Substance, Felony Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Felony Resisting Arrest by Fleeing. Avalo is being held on a $150,000 Cash Only bond in the Morgan County Jail.

Avalo was also charged in Miller County with 1st Degree Robbery and Armed Criminal Action and a warrant was issued with a $200,000 bond.
