Vicky Davidson, executive director for the Missouri Developmental Disabilities Council is quoted in the MDHSS release as saying, "We are excited to partner with KultureCity to bring this sensory inclusive vaccination opportunity to Missouri. Each vaccination event will have a mobile sensory space available and Sensory Inclusive Medical Training of vaccinators and medical professionals.”

One in six people today has a sensory processing need according to MDHSS, so it's important that vaccination environments exist where people with sensory needs can feel regulated and can tolerate receiving vaccinations to the best of their ability.

In the Sedalia and Warrensburg area, people with sensory needs may come to Summer's Pharmacy on Friday, September 16 to receive any vaccinations, including the COVID-19 vaccination, that they may need. These pop-up vaccination events will be held at Summer's Pharmacy in Sedalia from 9:00 AM -11:00 AM CDT, and at Summer's Pharmacy in Warrensburg from 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM CDT.

Summer's is located in Sedalia at 3400 W. Broadway Boulevard, and in Warrensburg at 61 Burkarth Road.

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services says funding for these events is provided by The Missouri Developmental Disabilities Council, in partnership with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, UMKC Institute for Human Development, and Missouri Protection and Advocacy.
