I have a Taco Bell location near my home.  I pass it often.  More times than not, it seems to be busy enough that the drive thru has a few cars.  I actually ordered from there on Easter Sunday, and the line was long.  Guess no one wanted ham for Easter Sunday.  When it comes to fast food, every place seems to have a go-to item that is very popular.  Taco Bell is no different, and when they removed their Mexican Pizza from their menu, there was a fair amount of backlash from fans of the chain.  Those fans can now settle down, as their voices have been heard!

The beloved menu item will permanently reappear on menus beginning May 19, the chain confirmed Monday. Taco Bell eliminated the pizza in November 2020 as part of a broader culling of its menus during the height of the pandemic. It is believed that they seem to be in a better place financially where the food costs for this item isn't as big a concern anymore, or the backlash was just too much.

The Mexican Pizza consists of a tortilla shell filled with either beans or ground beef, a pizza sauce and is topped with another tortilla shell that's smothered with more sauce, cheese and chopped tomatoes. Taco Bell introduced the item in 1985 and originally called it the "Pizzazz Pizza."  It is a vegetarian option that many fast food chains do not have.  You can read more about it HERE.

Looks like this popular item will be here to stay.  I haven't had one in quite some time, so for nostalgia purposes, it may be worth trying again.  Did you miss it? Will you be ordering one when it returns?
