One of the bands performing at the Lions Club Blues Cruise and BBQ Festival on June 1 is a great young band out of Columbia: Mojo Roots.  These guys may be young, but they certainly understand and pay tribute to history of the blues, and I respect that a lot.  They have a new CD out and it is terrific!

I can not tell you how many hours I have spent listening to Alvin Lee in my life.  Whether it was when he was with Ten Years After or solo, whether it was balls out rock and roll or one of the sweetest blues guitars ever.  Sadly, Alvin passed away Wednesday morning. Today (Jan. 29) is the start of the 29th Annual International Blues Competition in Memphis.  Hundreds of blues bands, musicians, and singers will be competing to see who the brightest new stars are in the blues Industry.  This year a couple of acts competing (after winning local competitions) are artists that have played around Sedalia, some of them regularly.
