There were almost 300 swimmers that made it out to the Sedalia Parks & Rec twilight swim at Centennial Park Pool last night, July 17. With the high heat advisory, lots of families, turned out for the event. Thousands of kids from low-income families in Pettis County qualify for free school lunches.  The problem is when school is out on long weekends or holiday breaks, many of these kids go hungry. The Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri is helping to break that alarming trend with the Buddy Pack. The Good Old Fashioned Fourth of July had amazing weather and great turnout this year. “This year we've had a more steady stream of visitors with the great weather we've had,” said event coordinator Terry Cockrell. "Last year the temperatures were above 100 degrees, and this year it was a lot more pleasant in the 70s and 80s."
