Anticipation for Anthrax's upcoming 'Anthems' release is running high. Due for release on March 19 in North America and on March 22 in Europe, 'Anthems' features Anthrax tackling some of their best-loved cover songs from the '70's.

It's been a busy past few days for lovers of Bruce Springsteen's skill as a songwriter. On Friday (Feb. 8), a wide variety of artists paid tribute to the Boss at the MusiCares 2013 Person of the Year award. Now, indie group Divine Fits has tackled 'Hungry Heart.'

When the folks at Lincoln decided to launch a new promotional campaign featuring contemporary artists covering classic songs, Beck was an obvious natural choice -- after all, his Record Club project has already found him recording new versions of the Velvet Underground and Leonard Cohen, among others.

Covering Fleetwood Mac seems to be a hip thing to do these days. Back in August a tribute album came out featuring Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, Marianne Faithful and a strong crop of some of today's most acclaimed young groups. Next month will see a CD featuring more indie bands tackling Fleetwood Mac's classic 1977 album 'Rumours.'

They don't exactly occupy the same end of the musical spectrum, but rock legends ZZ Top and up-and-coming metal band the Sword are both from Texas -- and it turns out that's enough shared musical DNA to produce a pretty effective cover.

Kids, I recently read an article at the online humor magazine Cracked about some songs that should get a makeover. That got my little mind a-workin'.  I'm sure we'd all love to see some of the rocking groups or fun pop acts of today give a new take of some of the older classics.

Pop singer Michelle Branch, best known for a string of hits between 2001 and 2004, has decided to tackle the Rolling Stones‘ ‘Play with Fire.’ The original version, which was No. 66 on our recent list of the Top 100 Rolling Stones Songs, was the B-side of their 1965 hit ‘The Last Time.’

If imitation is truly the sincerest form of flattery, then we suppose Cee Lo Green has just paid the Ramones a compliment of sorts.

There’s no denying that New York City power-pop trio Fountains of Wayne are huge classic rock fans. Their 2005 double album, ‘Out-Of-State-Plates,’ featured covers of Jackson Browne‘s ‘These Days’ and ELO‘s ‘Can’t Get It Out Of My Head,’ while a cover of ‘Better Days’ appeared on a 2001 Ray Davies/Kinks tribute album.
