Minecraft, an open-space computer game in which players can build and create anything their heart can desire, has amassed a gigantic following among youngsters who use their imaginations to give birth to expansive worlds. Universally beloved among the world’s middle-schoolers, the game has spawned every merchandising tie-in under the sun, from pixelated foam swords to T-shirts with snappy slogans to lunch boxes. And now, the youth phenomenon will permeate the mainstream even further through a feature film adaptation. The project was announced in 2014, they landed a director in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia creator Rob McElhenney in 2015, and this year, they’ve made moves to lock down their first star.

Richard Linklater’s follow-up to Everybody Wants Some is another sequel of sorts, but in an intriguing twist, it’s not connected to one of his own films. Instead, the Boyhood director has been developing a sequel to The Last Detail, the classic 1973 film starring Jack Nicholson and Randy Quaid. And now we have a few more reasons to get excited for Linklater’s latest: Steve Carell, Bryan Cranston and Laurence Fishburne.

Jon Stewart said goodbye to The Daily Show last night in equal parts star-studded and quiet, personal fashion as former correspondents like Steve Carell, Stephen Colbert, John Oliver and Olivia Munn returned to pay their respects, while Bruce Springsteen closed out the slow with a performance — at Stewart’s request — of his 1999 song “The Land of Hopes and Dreams” and, for his fellow New Jerseyan, “Born to Run”.

At just below $1 billion, ‘Despicable Me 2’ is one of the biggest movies of all-time. It’s the fourth biggest animated film of all-time behind ‘Frozen’, ‘Toy Story 3’ and ‘The Lion King’. Not bad for a supervillain and his little yellow friends! Even lauded talents star in terrible films, but sometimes—as is the case with these ten thespians—they happen to star in the worst of the bunch during the exact same calendar year that they turned in those Oscar-worthy works. Oops.

As director Bennett Miller said, the whole premise behind 'Foxcatcher' -- that of a disturbed millionaire coaching a team of Olympic wrestling hopefuls at his home without knowing a thing about the sport -- was "funny...until it's not, and then it's not funny at all." Following the film's NYFF debut, a new 'Foxcatcher' trailer premiered online to show off the powerhouse performances from Steve Carell, Channing Tatum and Mark Ruffalo, and provide a full-length look at this early Oscar contender.

Here's some news we never expect to report today... Warner Bros. is planning a spinoff of their classic Looney Tunes franchise that would be based on Acme Corp. - the company which Wile E. Coyote and others use to buy their anvils, dynamite and earthquake pills - and would Steve Carell. And, before you ask, no, there won't actually be any Looney Tunes characters in the movie. Huh?
