Today I had the chance to speak over the phone with Claudia, the Executive Director of Mothers Against Methamphetamine. She had a lot to say about family and the community when it comes to this dangerous drug, and we talked about all the good this group can do in our area.
The Mothers Against Methamphetamine are very dedicated to helping educate Sedalia and the neighboring communities about methamphetamine. It's a huge problem in our area that affects not only those who use, but their families and friends.
A tragic event happened last Thursday (Oct. 31) in Tipton. Chad Stover, a junior at Tipton High School was injured during a game against Sacred Heart. With minutes left in the game, he suffered a severe head injury and was flown over to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment. People in the area have been pouring out support for Chad and his family.
One day this summer, I took my daughter to athletic workouts at Smith-Cotton High School. There must have been 200 kids there working out for various sports, including JROTC and cheerleading.
