When I was a kid, the summertime meant going to the pool.  We lived on the West side of town, so we ended up going to Liberty Pool quite a bit.

The Sedalia pools' season officially came to an end with the 2013 Doggie Dive at Liberty Park Pool last night (Sept. 3). Dog owners brought their dogs out for a night of splashing in the pool, fetching balls and even a few dog races and dives in the deep end.

For the first time in history, a swimmer has endured the 103-mile route from Havana, Cuba to Key West, Florida, without the assistance of a shark cage. That swimmer, 64-year-old Diana Nyad, began her quest on Saturday, August 31, and finished around 53 hours later on Labor Day.

Ahh, summer. 'Tis the season of watermelon art, diving fails and-- you guessed it-- belly flops. When we were kids, this pool move was awesome. But nowadays... who are we kidding? It's still (painfully) awesome!

The summer heat is among us, so it's time to break out the swimsuit and enjoy the refreshing cool water at your local pool. Sedalia is fortunate to have two public pools, but which one do you prefer? Both Centennial pool and the Liberty pool are both set up relatively similar.
