If you're working outside today, keep hydrated. If you're out and about with the kids, take notice of how fast temps can rise in a vehicle. Also, remember those pets that are outside. They need plenty of water and cover from the direct sun, too.

Temperatures in the area will climb quickly today with highs expected in the upper 90's to lower 100's in the afternoon and heat index values near 110. Extreme caution should be used during any outdoor activities during the bulk of the heat between 12 pm and 9 pm and if unavoidable please hydrate and take frequent breaks to cool off. Today will be very dangerous for the elderly, sick, and those without air conditioning so please check on these individuals who are sensitive to the heat. Always remember to LOOK before you LOCK as children or pets could be injured or killed with minimal time inside a vehicle today as inside temperatures will rise very fast to dangerous levels.

Temperatures look to stay high through Saturday with a break finally coming Saturday night into Sunday morning as a cold front will push through the area bringing temperatures back down towards normal for the end of the weekend and start of the week.
