Royals Aren't on the Bottom of the MLB Power Rankings...Yet!

Is the glass half full or is it half empty? You've heard this saying before. Of course, it depends on whether you're an optimist or a pessimist. As far as the Kansas City Royals go this year, I'm optimistically looking at the the MLB Power rankings, and I'm feeling more like a pessimist right now after seeing them!

I guess you can call me a true-blue Royals fan. These days I think that saying actually means that I'm more blue than ever of the status of the team. The power rankings just came out for the 30 teams from the American and the National league combined, and lo and behold (optimistic) the Royals aren't on the bottom of the list. Now as I look at that list I do see (pessimistic) that KC is at #29 out of thirty teams. What happened?

Earlier in the season the Royals had the best record in baseball. If my memory serves me right, they were 16-7. It's sad to see KC to be down this low in the standings. Currently their record is 38-55. They are 19 games behind the AL Central Division leading Chicago White Sox. The White Sox's record stands at almost a complete opposite, 57-38.

According to the MLB Power rankings:

The Royals are 22-46 since May 1. That should explain why they are ranked lower than several teams with worse overall records. They have dropped six of their last seven series and lost two of three to the Baltimore Orioles to begin the second half.

By the way the Orioles have a worse record than Kansas City. Baltimore is last in the American League East with record of 31-63, 25 1/2 games behind division-leading Boston.

In case you're wondering the Arizona Diamondbacks are on the bottom of the list at #30.

Did somebody say the Chiefs are getting ready for training camp...Hmmm?
