Showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast for Thursday. With the passing of this system will be a cold front that will usher in overnight temperatures into the low 30's in our area overnight Friday/early Saturday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill, a strong cold front will produce strong to severe thunderstorms Thursday afternoon. The main threats will be hail and damaging winds. The threat will taper off after sunset.

Much cooler air will settle into the area Friday and Saturday with temperatures near or at freezing Friday night and early Saturday in most areas. A Freeze Watch has been issued for Friday night and Saturday morning for Northern and Western Missouri.

Here's the forecast through the weekend for the Warrensburg/Sedalia area according to the National Weather Service:

Thursday
Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Patchy fog before noon. High near 75. South wind 14 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Thursday Night
Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 1am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 1am and 4am, then showers after 4am. Patchy fog before 11pm. Low around 38. South southwest wind 13 to 17 mph becoming northwest after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Friday
Showers, mainly before 7am. High near 48. West northwest wind 13 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Friday Night
Widespread frost, mainly after 2am. Otherwise, clear, with a low around 31. West wind around 7 mph.
Saturday
Widespread frost, mainly before 8am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 58.
