Well, I've had another "Patrick Star" moment in my life. If you don't remember or know, when I say I'm having a "Patrick Star" moment, it basically means I'm living under a rock.  I don't know how I can be so oblivious to so many cool things and people, but.. man.  I am.  Maybe I'm just living in my own little bubble or something.  You'd think I'd know things!

Anyway, I found this event the other day and it just sounds so freggin cool.  It's being held by the Marshall Cultural Council, and it's called World Festival: This Is Us.  It's going to be at the Saline County Fairgrounds Amphitheater.  They're going to have all kinds of people demonstrating their different heritages/cultures.  They're going to have world performers throughout the day, ethnic foods, kid's activities, unique shopping vendors. Children's activities will take place between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.

I saw some video from last year, and you can easily color me impressed.

That is just so cool! And that's just a little bit of it.  They're also going to have a reggae concert by Jah Lion from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., and kid's activities  between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.  I didn't know that our little area was quite as diverse as it is, but I'm stoked about it. I say, bring it on!  America's a melting pot, after all, right?  We all have our little ingredients that make the stew tasty.  Well, that was a weird metaphor, but you get it.

Tickets are available for early purchase at Tower Realty in Marshall, MO M-F 8-5 and Saturday 9-12. But you can also get em at the gate on the day of the event.  It's ten bucks for over 13, half off for college students with ID, and kids 12 and under get in free.  I think we've had similar events like this in Sedalia, too... I seem to remember an international food festival at SFCC?  Anyway, we can never have enough of these events, if it's up to me.

Worldly yours,

Behka
