Two Carrollton residents were injured in a one-vehicle accident that occurred Wednesday afternoon in Benton County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a southbound 1995 Ford Bronco, driven by 57-year-old Robert Y. McDowell of Carrollton, was on US 65, just south of Route T at 2 p.m., when the vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway, traveled up an embankment and became airborne. The Bronco then overturned, struck a guardrail and came to rest on its top.

McDowell suffered serious injuries, and was transported by Warsaw-Lincoln Ambulance to University of Missouri Hospital for treatment. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to the report.

A six-year-old male juvenile, who was wearing a safety device at the time of the crash, suffered minor injuries, and was transported to Bothwell Regional Health Center by Warsaw-Lincoln Ambulance.
