A couple of area employers are gearing up to hire more people. Tyson Foods is holding a hiring event at the Missouri Job Center in Sedalia on December 20, 2019 and Nucor Steel is opening their job pool this Staturday, December 7.

Nucor is assembling a pool of qualified individuals for entry level production positions. According to Nucor's Facebook page these jobs usually require "moderate to heavy lifting and can be physically demanding, including working in extreme temperatures.

Tyson has general labor positions available. According to the job posting, these positions may be "in any department that may include, but not limited to, First Processing and Further Processing. Physical requirements may include standing, walking, bending, stretching, climbing, pushing, pulling, and reaching are required. Lifting is required in many areas (weight depends on area.) The use of knives or scissors may be required. These positions may work in a cold (50 degrees F or below), damp or hot, humid environment (some jobs may reach 120 degrees F in the summer months)."

To be considered for a job with Nucor, starting Saturday December 7 at 8:00AM CST, applicants should go here and complete a brief questionnaire. Tyson's hiring event at Missouri Job Center in Sedalia takes place Friday December 20 from 9:00AM CST - 3:00PM CST. Applicants should bring a resume, be prepared to interview and dress professionally. According to Tyson's job posting, former Tyson team members terminated for gross misconduct are not eligible for rehire. Former Tyson team members looking to rehire with the company must have been separated from the company for at least 180 days.
