Police officers respond to all types of calls. Imagine the expression on the Warrensburg officer's face when he or she was asked to respond to a opossum taking a bath without permission in a resident's home.

The cute joey apparently made a little bit of a mess in the resident's bath tub, but all is well that ends well. Warrensburg police say the last they heard he was waiting for his mom to pick him up.

As much as I don't want an opossum stopping by for a shower in my new apartment, there are some benefits to having them as part of our environment. According to mnn.com: Oppossums eat everything including rodents, insects, snails, slugs, birds, eggs, frogs, plants, fruits and grains. So they're good for pest control and good for your garden (unless they steal fruit from your garden.)

As far as inscect and rodent control they compete with cockroaches and rats for food, and they're not above killing cockroaches and rats that are in their territory. I don't know about you, but anything that'll get rid of roaches and rats is good thing in my book. They're also the only marsupial native to North America.

I just have one question: How can something be so cute as a baby and grow up to be so unattractive looking?

Here's the Facebook post from the Warrensburg Police Department:
