Warrensburg Residents Get Ready For Spring Cleaning

Last year during Warrensburg's Spring Cleanup I had a couple of old recliners I needed to have hauled away. Brought them out to the curb and boom, the City came and took them away. This year I have an old file cabinet. So what do you have for Warrensburg's Spring Cleanup? They'll take lots of different things: furniture, carpeting, tree trimmings and more.

For residents who live East of Maguire Spring Cleanup starts on Monday April 19. Spring Cleanup starts for those who live West of Maguire starting on Monday April 26. Actual collection of your bulk waste, however, may take place after the start date depending on the bulk waste you have to be picked up.

Here's what you need to know about Warrensburg's Spring Cleanup:

• Bulk waste of metal, brush and trash should be separated into different piles and mush have been generated on the premises it is being picked up from.
• Do not place items in front of vacant homes, those items will not be picked up.
• Appliances like refrigerators, freezers, and air conditioners must have the Freon discharged, and the appliance must be tagged by a State Authorized Specialist to be picked up.
• Doors must be removed from appliances that could pose a hazard to children.
• The intent of Spring Cleanup is to get rid of things found while cleaning out closets, the garage, the basement. So typical house hold waste (like food waste and packaging) won't be accepted.
• Construction and demolition waste from a major remodeling or construction of your home won't be accepted. That said leftovers from a smaller weekend home improvement project will. Please cut items down to a size no longer than four feet long.

Some materials won't be accepted during the Spring Cleanup. Those items include: roofing materials, concrete, bricks, stones, automotive body parts, engines, transmissions, tires, batteries, transmissions, used oil, paint, insecticides, hazardous waste, chemicals and items picked up with your regular trash.
