We Tried It: The New Sedalia Escape Room
If you're not familiar with the concept, I'll explain the idea behind an Escape Room.In our household, we are big fans of games and puzzles. An Escape Room is an elaborate puzzle game. You go to an establishment and they have a room or two set up and several puzzles for you to solve (with a few clues) and the objective is to solve all the different games in a certain time limit.
We love these things. Husbando and I have done one (we solved it) with a few friends of mine, and we did one with the girls (we did not solve that one). We also had a board game kind of thing that was called Escape Room, and we had tons of fun with that one (I think we were 50/50 on that one).
So when I heard there was going to be an Escape Room in Sedalia (Raks Escape Room, it's on Ohio in Downtown Sedalia), I was so stoked. Usually you have to drive to Kansas City or somewhere out of town to be able to find one. We decided to do it was a birthday surprise for Husbando! When we first got there, we were all impressed with the cool decor. Our host explained some rules to us and showed us a video showing you the plot of your story (I WON'T tell you anything, in case you want to go. I don't want to spoil it for you).
We did the "easy" one, and barely made it with maybe a minute left. It was so much fun! The only downside was that they give you clues (which we needed), but they're on a screen, so you have to read them instead of hearing them through a speaker. Why that was a little downside was that we had to check the monitor for clues and if nobody was looking at the monitor, we might have missed a clue. Maybe a beep or something to tell us to look at the screen? But that was a small thing, really. Husbando and the girls all said they wanted to come back and do the other room one weekend. I'm not, like, trying to do any endorsing here, but I'd recommend it if you like puzzles! They do reservations online and you can get yours here.
Have you ever done one of these things? What did you think? Did you escape? Would you try it again? Let me know what you think!
