As you go through life you'll eat many things. It will be food that you want to try because it looks interesting, it will be something you will try on a dare, and then there are certain foods that you eat because of tradition. Well, I can guarantee this won't be a tradition that will be starting in my household this year!

I ran across this story before Christmas and I was going to write about it then but I got caught up, as so many of us do, with all of the hustle and bustle of the holidays. I looked at the subject that they were talking about eating and right off the bat I said no way...why?

What I'm talking about is a holiday favorite in Wisconsin-a "Cannibal Sandwich." What does it consist of? Raw ground beef on bread with sliced onions, salt and pepper. That's it. Sound yummy? Not to me it doesn't. In fact the Wisconsin Department of Health has warned people and asked them to pass on the holiday treat. They say you could get sick it you eat it...really, ya think?

According to the story on the website amp.cnn.com, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) tweeted the following:

"eating raw meat is NEVER recommended because of the bacteria it can contain"

Now I've heard of people eating raw hack. Recipelink.com gives this definition of raw hack:

Ground (or even better finely handcut) beefsteak is heaped in the center of a plate.
Now, you can come up with your own garnishments. You might want to season it with salt and pepper, throw in some onion or maybe even top it with a raw egg.
For me, take that meat and throw on the grill, and while you're at it, make sure that egg is cooked...at least sunny-side up!
