I know, you guys. You're saying to yourself, "Geez, what is it with Behk and these blood drives? Why is she always harping on and on about every one of these every time one comes up?" Well. Continue, gentle reader.

I don't know about you, but I've given blood a few times over the years, whenever I can. I just gave last month, actually. So it's maybe... a few times a year, for me. And one is coming up here before long with the Community Blood Center.  Who are they? Community Blood Center is the primary supplier of blood and blood components to 70 hospitals in both Kansas and Missouri.

Now why should you bother doing this? Donating blood is one of easiest ways to support your community. Your donation will save the life of an individual right here, right now. And it's a very vital way to make a real difference. This blood donation may seem like a small drop in the bucket, but you couldn't be more wrong. Every full utilization is made of nearly every blood donation.

Human blood is required to save the lives of people suffering from accidents and disease millions of times each year in the United States. There is no way to manufacture human blood outside the body.

Donating blood is quick, easy and pain free. You can be in and out in less than 60 minutes. You must be 16 years of age (with parental consent) to donate blood and weigh a minimum of 115 lbs. At the age of 17, you can donate on your own without parental consent.  So again, yes, I'm going to harp on you about it.

It's simple, and it going to help someone - someone in a car accident, someone going into surgery, someone in cancer treatment... someone you know.  So.  Make your appointment with the CBC on Tuesday, October 18th, at the First Christian Church, 200 South Limit Avenue.  The drive will be held from 10:00 a.m to 2:00 p.m.  You can book at savealifenow.org/group and enter in Group Code: SD.  If you need other details, call Marge at 660-827-2200.

Donatingly yours,

Behka
