Scentsy is recalling a couple of it's electrical oil warmers due to a fire hazard. This according to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission. What's really interesting though is what caused the fire hazard in the warmers.

The recall includes Scentsy's Luminary Jack (pictured) and some Bless This Home electrical warmers used to heat oil that makes your home smell fresher. Here's what the products look like according to a description provided in the recall alert from the Product Safety Commission:

The Luminary Jack Warmer has a Jack O’ Lantern facial cut out and measures 5 ¼ inches wide by 7 ½ inches tall.  The Bless This Home Warmer has two window cut outs, “Bless This Home” printed on the front, measures 4 ¼ inches wide by 10 inches tall, and has a top that resembles a roof line.  Both models are shaped like standing paper bags.

Bless This Home warmers were sold from July through September of this year, and Luminary Jack warmers were sold during September of this year.

Owners of the products are instructed to stop using the product immediately and contact Scentsy for a full refund. Scentsy is giving a full refund to everyone who bought a Luminary Jack electrical warmer and affected Bless This Home warmers. There is a step or two the company wants the owner to take to render the warmer inoperable before they will issue a refund.

For more information on how to obtain a refund or see if your Bless This Home warmer is included in the recall, owners of both products should contact Scentsy at 877-855-0617 from 6:00AM -9:00PM MST, Monday through Friday, by email at support@scentsy.com or they can find more contact information here.

The interesting thing about this recall, in my opinion, is how the product got damaged. Apparently the shipping container these affected products shipped in had a cockroach infestation which necessitated fumigation to get rid of the pests. The fumigation not only apparently got rid of the roaches, it corroded the electrical components in the electrical warmers which now pose a fire hazard when used. Now that's what I call a powerful bug bomb.
