Zack Snyder’s stayed out of sight since he left Justice League midway through production to spend more time with his family following the death of his daughter in 2017. But now he’s coming back — and going back to his roots.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Snyder will next direct a zombie action film for Netflix. Prior to his days making DC’s superhero movies (and directing 300 and Watchmen before that), Snyder broke through with a surprisingly effective remake of the George Romero classic Dawn of the Dead. The new film, titled Army of the Dead, sounds pretty different from that one, with strains of action and heist film thrown into the mix:

The adventure is set amid a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas, during which a man assembles a group of mercenaries to take the ultimate gamble, venturing into the quarantined zone to pull off the greatest heist ever attempted.

Snyder told THR he has “no handcuffs” on him on this project, and that he’s never been let “completely loose [like this]” before. He also described the film as “the most kick-ass, self-aware — but not in a wink-to-the-camera way — balls-to-the-wall zombie freakshow that anyone has ever seen.”

So if pure unfiltered Zack Snyder zombie mayhem sounds like your speed, better keep up with your Netflix payments for the foreseeable future.
