Zsa Zsa, World’s Ugliest Dog, Dies Weeks After Winning Title
This is sad. Zsa Zsa, an English bulldog that won the World's Ugliest Dog contest just weeks ago, has died.
According to the Associated Press, Zsa Zsa died in her sleep on Tuesday at the age of nine. Zsa Zsa was named the 2018 World's Ugliest Dog on June 23 at the Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds in Petaluma, California. Zsa Zsa has an enormous tongue, crooked teeth, and was decked out with pink toenails for the competition. After winning, Zsa Zsa was featured on NBC's Today, and was spotted at the Dan + Shay concert as part of the show's summer concert series.
A trophy and cash prize is awarded to the owner of the world's ugliest dog each summer. "For 25 years, the Contest has been a testament that all dogs do not have to meet AKC pedigree standards to be man’s (or woman’s) best friend," says the Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds' website.
