Fielder Found Guilty of First Degree Murder

On Feb. 24, 2022, at approximately 12:30 p.m., Pettis County Sheriff’s Office investigators were made aware of the homicide of James “JR” Robert Fannon and an assault of another individual from an investigator with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.

A joint investigation was conducted with investigators from the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office and deputies with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office. After following up on multiple leads a search warrant was sought and obtained on Feb. 24, 2022, and the warrant was served at 11:30 p.m., at the suspect’s residence, Mark Alan Fielder in Windsor, Henry County.

Evidence was collected related to the homicide and the assault and Fielder was arrested at the residence for the crimes.

A jury trial was conducted in Pettis County on Aug. 16-17, and Fielder was ultimately found guilty of the following crimes and the jury recommended sentencing. Allocution and sentencing are scheduled for Oct. 10 before Judge Robert Koffman.

1. Murder 1st Degree - jury recommended a sentence to life in prison.
2. Armed Criminal Action - jury recommended a sentence of 15 years.
3. Unlawful Use of a Weapon -Subsection 9-Shoot at/from motor vehicle, at person, jury recommended a sentence of life imprisonment.
4. Assault 2nd Degree - jury recommended a sentence of one year in the county jail.
5. Unlawful Use of a Weapon -Subsection 4-Exhibiting, jury recommended a sentence of one year in the county jail.
6. Armed Criminal Action – jury recommended a sentence of three years imprisonment.

The Pettis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Prosecutor Phillip Sawyer, and Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Tony Farkas tried the case, Victim Advocate, Shannon Boeschen provided support for the family and friends of the victims. Assisting in the investigation were Henry County Deputies and the Missouri Department of Social Services, Children’s Division, according to Sheriff Anders.
