Sedalia Police Reports for August 28, 2023

Early Monday morning, Officers conducted a subject check at the Bothwell Hospital, 601 East 14th Street. After contacting the subject, the subject refused to leave, even after being asked multiple times. Clayton Alfrey, 20, of Marshall, was arrested for Trespassing in the 1st Degree. Alfrey was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be placed on a 24-hour hold.

Sunday night, Officer responded to the 1000 block of South Harrison Avenue in reference to reports of gunshots. Initial investigation showed a subject was assaulted and injured using a weapon. Subjects have been named, but no contact has been made at this time. The investigation is ongoing.

Sunday evening, Officers conducted a warrant check in the 1500 block of East 6th Street. Officers made contact with the subject, checked her information with Dispatch, and confirmed her active warrant* out of Pettis County with a bond of $7500 cash or surety. Shellie Lynn Zimmerschied, 48, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where she was booked on the warrant.

Sedalia Police responded to a domestic disturbance in progress in the 100 block of Winchester Drive. Investigation provided that a female, who was the caller’s ex-spouse, had assaulted the caller and their companion. The female had left the scene prior to Officer’s arrival. Charges will be submitted to the prosecutor for Harassment and Assault in the 3rd Degree.

Officers were dispatched to the 1600 block of South Moniteau Avenue in reference to pills being found inside a mailbox Sunday night. Contact was made with Destiny B. Anderson, who stated some unknown pills were recovered. The pills were placed into evidence.

Saturday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the Woods Supermarket, 701 East Broadway Boulevard, for a theft report. The suspect left the scene begore Officers arrived. The complainant did not wish to pursues charges for theft, but instead asked the suspect be trespassed.

Sunday morning, Mary Dearing called the Police Department to report an assault that occurred in the 1100 block of East 11th Street. A report was completed.

Saturday morning, a female entered the lobby of the Police Department to return a found wallet. The wallet was placed into safe keeping.

Officers took a delayed report over the phone Friday night regarding a disturbance in the 2300 block of West 2nd Street Terrace. A report was taken to document the incident.

Saturday evening, Officers responded to the 100 block of East 11th Street in reference to a domestic disturbance. Officers were able to identify all parties, and determine a physical aggressor. Robert Maurice Williams, 41, of Sedalia, was arrested for Domestic Assault in the 2nd Degree. William was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be placed on a 24-hour hold pending charges.

Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that had expired registration in the area of East 16th Street and South Washington Avenue Saturday night. The driver was found to have a Platte County Failure to Appear warrant from 2019 on original charges of Failure to Register a Motor Vehicle. Joseph Aaron Grechus, 36, of Arnold, was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked on the warrant, with a cash only bond of $130.00.

Friday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the Autozone store, 2601 West Broadway Boulevard, in reference to a found property call. Employees found a large stack of various cards next to the building, all belonging to one person. Attempts were made to contact the person, but none were successful. The cards were put into evidence for safe keeping.

Officers were dispatched to a report of fraud at the Comfort Inn, 3600 West Broadway Boulevard Friday afternoon. An employee was fraudulently refunding rooms to steal the cash. Charges of Stealing and Misuse of a Credit/Debit Device are being recommended to the state prosecutor.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 700 block of West 16th Street for a report regarding a violation of an Ex-Parte Saturday evening. Upon arrival, Officers gathered the necessary information to generate a report.

Friday night, Officers responded to the 700 block of South New York Avenue in reference to a domestic disturbance. One subject had already left he scene upon the Officer’s arrival. The other subject stated it was a verbal argument, and some glass was broken. She did sustain some injuries. Since the other party had left, a 12-hour log was completed for documentation.

Officers conducted a vehicle stop near the intersection of South Engineer Avenue and East 4th Street Friday afternoon. A passenger in the vehicle was found to have an active Failure to Appear warrant from Pettis County on original charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle on the Highway Without a Valid License. Bobby L. Jackson III, 27, of Sedalia, was arrested on his warrant and transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked, pending a cash only bond of $100.00.

Friday morning, Officers responded to the 1000 block of South State Fair Boulevard for a Fraud report. The victim stated her ex-boyfriend stole and used her debit card that day. She also reported he had disseminated explicit photographs of her to family members without her consent. A report was completed.

Friday morning, Officers responded to the 3000 block of Skyline Drive regarding property damage. Officers spoke with Steven Newland, who stated sometime within the last three weeks, someone put water in their fuel tank. The incident is under investigation.

On the evening of August 22nd, Officers were dispatched to the 2100 block of South Washington Avenue in reference to a 911 call of someone having been shot. The investigation on scene quickly revealed no one had actually been shot. The caller was suffering from several forms of mental illness. The caller was transported to the Bothwell Regional Health Center for a mental evaluation.

An Officer was dispatched to the Police Department to take a theft report last Tuesday afternoon. The driver of an OATS bus reported a riding taking the payment bag from the bus.

*There was no information available in Casenet for any current charges for a Shellie Lynn Zimmerschied.  The SPD Records Department confirmed the warrant was issued from the Pettis County Sheriff’s Department.  Any details on original charges were not available to the press at news time.
