Stover Man Killed in Morgan County Rollover

A Stover man was killed in a one-vehicle accident that occurred Wednesday night in Morgan County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a northbound 2002 Ford F-150, driven by 79-year-old Michael A. Kern of Stover, was on Ivy Bend Road, south of Private Bern Chipmunk Trail Road just before 11 p.m., when the truck crossed the center of the road. The driver overcorrected, causing the vehicle to skid, cross back over the center and travel off the right side of the roadway, where it overturned and struck a tree.

The truck came to rest on its driver's side, against the tree.

Kern was pronounced dead at the scene at 1 a.m., by Morgan County Corner M. B. Jones. The body was taken to Kidwell Garber Funeral Home.

The Ford was totaled.

Morgan County Deputies assisted the Patrol.

This was Troop F's fourth fatality for September, and the 36th for 2023.
