Too Early for Halloween Candy and Costumes to be on the Shelves?

I get it. We want things to go back the the way they used to be. We're tired of dealing with coronavirus masks, cancellations, suspensions, and everything else connected to the COVID-19 pandemic.

One thing I've noticed in the stores, is the influx of Fall decorations and Halloween Candy. I'm not sure if the costumes have arrived in stores yet. In fact, I'm wondering what Halloween will be like this year. Will there be trick or treating October 31st?

Whether the upcoming holiday of sorts will be anywhere near normal is yet to be seen, but I just wonder when is it actually okay to start putting out the jack o' lanterns and everything else connected to the scary night on the shelf? It seems as if we all have a different perspective on the question.

We see it every year. It creeps onto the shelves earlier and earlier. How soon should all the sweet and scary stuff go on the shelves?

If fact, now that I think about it, I'm not exactly sure in which store it was or when it happened but I'm sure there was a lot of the Halloween regalia and treats on the shelves shortly after the Fourth of July.

Why do the retailers feel the need to cram this stuff down our throats so early? By the time the holiday and /or event is here, we're tired of seeing the leftovers scattered in the stores.

So, here's the question...how soon is too soon? When should Halloween costumes and candy go on the shelves?
