Two Holden residents were injured in a two-vehicle accident that occurred Wednesday in Johnson County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a southbound 2011 Dodge Ram, driven by 36-year-old Jacob L. Truex of Chilhowee, was on Highway O, north of SW 745th Road (southeast of Holden) around 5:30 p.m., when the Dodge struck the rear of a southbound homemade Amish buggy, driven by 22-year-old Chris L. Kemp of Holden.

Kemp and his passenger, 20-year-old Katie R. Kemp, also of Holden, were ejected from the buggy.

The Dodge Ram came to rest in the southbound lane of the roadway. The buggy came to rest on top of the horse that was pulling it.

Chris Kemp suffered minor injuries and was transported by JCAD to Research Medical Center for treatment.

Katie Kemp suffered serious injuries and was flown by LifeFlight to Research Medical Center.

Truex was reportedly uninjured.

The Dodge Ram had extensive damage, while the buggy was totaled.

Johnson County Deputies and Fire assisted the Patrol.
