Well, mark it down in your daily journal or on a calendar. The 2020 Missouri State Fair is in the books. Whatever your opinion was of this year's fair, it definitely will be one for the records books.

The one thing we all looked forward to this time of the year is state fair food. Of course this year was a little different. For most of the "normal" years of the fair, you may not have been big into the concerts, maybe the livestock shows weren't your cup of tea but fair food almost always landed at the top of the list of favorite things about the Missouri State Fair.

If you're like me, You've gotten to that point in your life that just strolling down the midway with a corndog in one hand and a fresh-squeezed lemonade in the other satisfies the soul. That's okay.

If it's on a stick, fair-goers would usually try it and most likely, go back for seconds. Caramel Apples, Belgian Waffles, Frozen Coffee On a Stick...if it's on the stick, we're there!

Then there's always the traditional cotton candy and funnel cakes...you can't forget them.

Of course a few were a little far-fetched...Fried Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich, Deep-Fried Norwegian Banana Split. Deep-Fried Butter and Open-Faced Grilled Spam Sandwich.

With this year's lineup of concessionaires not being what is has been before, you still had a chance to get your fair food fix.

For my wife and I, we purchased funnel cakes both on the fairgrounds and at other sites around Sedalia. We even had a chance to get a Dick's corn dog! (and it was delicious!)

So let's mark August 12-22 for the 2021 Missouri State Fair! See you there!
