Sedalia Police Reports For February 8, 2023

Tuesday afternoon, Officers responded to the parking lot of the Stone Creek Apartments, 3100 Brianna Boulevard, in reference to a hit and run accident. Upon arrival, Officers met with a witness, who stated she watched as a white Chrysler sedan crashed into a parked vehicle. The Chrysler then sped away from the scene without providing any information.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard Monday evening for a report of a disturbance. When Officers arrived, they made contact with seven subjects from out of town. They were drawn to the Wal Mart parking lot to settle a family feud. A group physical altercation occurred, but a primary physical aggressor could not be determined. A 12 hour log was completed.

Just before three a.m. on the morning of February 3rd, Officer responded to the 400 block of East Chestnut Street in reference to a theft. The caller stated someone known to them stole their bicycle. The bicycle was recovered about an hour later in the 400 block of East Harvey Street. Tiffany M. Morrill, 34, of Sedalia, was issued a summons for Stealing with a court date.

Sunday morning, Officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of South Summit Avenue and East Broadway Boulevard on a vehicle that was failing to maintain its lane of travel. During the course of the investigation, it was determined the driver was intoxicated. Charles Joseph Wansing III, 51, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated (Prior Offender). Wansing was then transported to the Sedalia Police Department, where he provided a breath sample that showed his BAC was above 0.08. Wansing was then transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked and released.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to make phone contact with a subject who wished to report an incident that took place in 2019. The call was conducted on Monday afternoon. It was later determined that the statute of limitations had passed, and the issue was more civil than criminal.

Tuesday morning, Officers were dispatched to the Police Station lobby to take a report of property damage. Austin August Boatcher reported that sometime between Monday night and Tuesday morning, someone put a large scratch down the side of his SUV that was parked in the 1900 block of South Montgomery. Boatcher thinks he knows who the suspect is, but there was no further information in the report.

Officers were dispatched to the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard Tuesday afternoon in reference to trespassing. A subject who had been trespassed from the store earlier that day, and was issued a summons for Trespassing from the store that same morning, was back in the store shopping a few hours later. Damean D. Simmons, 38, Homeless, was arrested for Trespassing in the 1st Degree. Simmons was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and released.

Tuesday morning, Officers responded to the 2500 block of South Woodlawn Drive in reference to a theft report. Officers contacted the victim, who said her husband had stolen her wallet and keys. Officers made contact with the subject, and were unable to locate any of the stolen items. A report was made, but no charges are being pursued at this time.

Officers made a traffic stop Monday afternoon on a vehicle that was travelling 44 MPH in a 20 MPH zone in the area in front of Parkview Elementary, 1901 South New York Avenue. Officers made contact with the driver, and checked her information with Dispatch. Dispatch confirmed she had a Failure to Appear warrant out of the City of Sedalia on original charges of Expired Plates. Erika Doroshay Thomas, 22, of Sedalia, was arrested for her warrant and transported to the Pettis County Jail pending a $200 cash only bond.

Tuesday morning, Officers responded to the Probation and Parole Office, 205 Thompson Road, in reference to a subject on premises with a warrant for their arrest. Officers made contact with the subject, and checked his information with Dispatch. The subject had an active Probation and Parole Violation warrant on original charges of felony Domestic Assault in the 3rd Degree. Alexander Scott Hoose, 31, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked on his warrant, pending a $1000 cash or surety bond.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the Break Time store, 318 West Broadway Boulevard, in reference to a disturbance Monday morning. The suspect left the scene prior to Officer's arrival. However, the reporting party provided a vehicle description that led Officers to have contact with the suspect in the CVS parking lot, 100 East Broadway Boulevard. The suspect had been previously trespassed from all Break Time stores in Sedalia. Sean S. Burke, 51, Homeless, was arrested for Trespassing in the 1st Degree. Burke was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and released.

Tuesday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the lobby of the Police Department in regards to a report of forgery. The reporting party stated an ADT contract was signed using her information without her permission.

Sunday morning, Joint Communications received a fax stating a theft had occurred in the 700 block of South Osage Avenue. The theft was reported to have occurred before March 28th of 2022 and the sending company was wishing to press charges. The faxed document was turned over to the SPD Records Department, and they in turn asked an Officer to investigate the document. It was later discovered the fax did not come from the company, who was not named in the report. It had been sent from another location. The company stated they did not wish to press charges. The investigation found that the request for services was not credible. The report was done for documentation only.

Tuesday morning, Officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of South Beacon Avenue for a vehicle theft report. Stanley C. Potts Jr. reported a truck was stolen. The truck was being worked on, and cannot be located now. The truck was entered into NCIC and MULES as stolen.

Monday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the area of West Broadway Boulevard and South Prospect Avenue in reference to a hit and run accident. Upon arrival, Officers observed a stop sign on the southeast corner of the intersection had been struck and destroyed. The striking vehicle apparently left the scene of the accident. RING video footage and witness statements were used to obtain a good description of the suspect vehicle.
