Sedalia Police Reports for July 28, 2023

Officers attempted to perform a traffic stop on a motorcycle near South Grand Avenue and West Broadway Boulevard for failing to signal. The vehicle fled from the Officer, and no pursuit was initiated. A report was completed on the incident, which took place on the night of June 13th.

Early Friday morning, Officers responded to a motor vehicle crash in the area of South Engineer Avenue and East 22nd Street. When Officers arrived, the driver was not on scene. A Pettis County Deputy later located an intoxicated male subject with injuries. After investigation, he was placed under arrest. Cordero Victor Anderson, 22, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated (Prior Offender), felony Driving While Revoked, and felony Leaving the Scene of an Accident. Anderson was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be placed on a 24-hour hold.

Thursday night, Officers responded to the area of McAnally Court to investigate a potential domestic disturbance in progress. Officers determined a physical altercation occurred, but a primary physical aggressor could not be determined. A 12-hour log was completed.

Sedalia Police stopped a truck in the area of West Broadway Boulevard and South Warren Avenue early Thursday morning. The vehicle was stopped because it was failing to maintain its lane. The driver was intoxicated and placed under arrest. Jamie Jean Robinson, 43, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility. Robinson was taken to the Pettis County to be booked, and then released to a sober driver.

Thursday afternoon, Officers responded to the Sonic restaurant, 300 West Broadway Boulevard, for a report of an attempted carjacking. On arrival to the area, Officers located a subject matching the description near the area of West 9th Street and South Moniteau Avenue. It was determined the subject had gotten into the wrong car by mistake and a carjacking did not take place. The subject was identified, and a computer check through Dispatch revealed him to have a failure to Appear warrant from Morgan County. Myron Dontay Seabury, 25, of Sedalia, was arrested for his FTA warrant on original charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle on the Highway Without a Valid License and Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility. Seabury was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail, pending a cash only bond of $300.00.

Officers responded to the 500 block of South Engineer Avenue Monday morning in regards to a report of arson. On arrival, Officers met with the victim, who reported a fire to the rear porch of her residence. The fire was determined to be arson. After an investigation, a suspect was developed. Officers and Pettis County Deputies contacted the suspect at her residence in the Boonville Trailer Court in Pettis County, and placed her under arrest. Samantha D. Hopkins, 26, of Sedalia, was taken to the Pettis County Jail to be booked on charges of Property Damage in the 2nd Degree and Arson in the 1st Degree. Hopkins was placed on a 24-hour hold pending a $7500 cash or surety bond.

On the afternoon of June 22nd, an Officer performed a traffic stop near the East Broadway Boulevard and East 12th Street because the truck had no front license plate. A check through Dispatch showed the passenger had a Saline County warrant for his arrest. Richard Dale Taber, 40, of Sedalia, was arrested for his Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Driving While Revoked (2nd or 3rd Offense). Taber was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked, pending a cash only bond of $2500.

Sedalia Police performed a traffic stop on a car near East 16th Street and South Hancock Avenue because it had no front license plate. The stop was conducted on the afternoon of June 28th. A check through Dispatch showed the driver’s license was revoked. Jeremy Robert Mullins, 35, of Sedalia was arrested for a felony charge of Driving While Revoked. Mullins was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked.

Monday morning, Detectives with the Crime Resolution Unit assisted the Missouri State Highway Patrol in performing a traffic stop on a truck travelling east on West Broadway Boulevard. The person inside had multiple felony warrants for their arrest. The vehicle was stopped near the intersection of West Broadway Boulevard and Curry Drive. The passenger was identified as the subject with the warrants and was arrested by the Patrol. The driver, Richard Allen Kurtz, 42, of Sedalia, was arrested for a charge of felony Hindering Prosecution. Kurtz was placed on a 24 hour hold at the Pettis County Jail. Almost two hours later, another subject was arrested after it was found they had also knowingly concealed the suspect. Carlenna Deloris Lange, 36, of Sedalia, was arrested for felony Hindering Prosecution.
