Sedalia Police Reports For September 7, 2021

Monday afternoon, Officers responded to the area of Liberty Park, 1500 West 3rd Street, for a disturbance. Contact was made with a subject from the disturbance who was hit in the face. He did not wish to pursue charges.

Sedalia Police responded to the 2300 block of East 10th Street Monday morning for a report of a suspicious person. Officers made contact with the subject, who told Officers he had money taken from inside his house on the evening of September 5th. He wished to pursue charges for the theft.

Early Tuesday morning, Sedalia Police were dispatched to the Casey's store, 1601 East Broadway Boulevard, for a theft report. Ashley Luttrell stated a vehicle had been stolen from McAnaly Court that belonged to the business she worked for. Luttrell was able to provide enough information to find the vehicle, which was located in the 300 block of North Engineer Avenue. There were no keys.

Officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of West 6th Street and South Quincy Avenue for a registration violation Monday evening. The driver was found to have a municipal Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign. Ruth Yamileth Rubio Turcios, 24, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail where she was booked on the warrant. Bond was set at $102 cash only.

Monday night, Officers responded to the Bothwell Regional Health Center in reference to a sex crime. Officers spoke to the victim and a report was taken.

Officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of South Barrett Avenue for a missing persons report Monday evening. The incident involved a run away juvenile. The juvenile was identified, but their location is still not determined.

Sedalia Police responded to the 400 block of West 6th Street in reference to a domestic disturbance Monday evening. Upon arrival, Officers met with a female who stated she had been involved in a physical altercation with a male. The situation had resolved, and a 12 hour log was entered to document the incident.

In the early morning hours Monday, Officers responded to the area of East 4th Street and South Washington Avenue for a report of a domestic disturbance. After arriving and completing an investigation, Officers determined that two subjects had gotten into a physical altercation. Charges are being sought in the case.

Saturday evening, Officers responded to the 3100 block of West 10th Street in reference to a fraud report. The victim believes her ex boyfriend has fraudulently used her personal information to report financial earnings in reference to a business in Ashland, Missouri.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 2400 block of East 10th Street Saturday morning in reference to a property damage report. After speaking with Brandon Nicholas Bom, Officers began an investigation into the incident. At the time of the report, no suspect is known.

Monday morning, Officers observed an occupant in a passenger car litter out of the window. After stopping the vehicle and running the driver's information through Dispatch, it was advised that the driver had a warrant out of Sedalia. Elizabeth Ann Schler, 42, of Sedalia, was arrested for her Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility. Schler was taken to the Pettis County Jail with bond set at $60 cash only.

Sunday evening, Officers responded to the Hubbard Park, 601 North Missouri Avenue, in reference to an assault that had just occurred. The Officers determined that several juveniles were involved in an altercation on the playground. A report was done to document the incident.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 600 block of South Moniteau Avenue for a verbal disturbance Sunday evening. It was determined that nothing physical happened, but a subject involved had a Pettis County Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Resisting Arrest. Anita Marie Burke, 48, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail with bond set at $1,500 cash or surety.

Sunday night, Officers responded to the 300 block of North Prospect Avenue in reference to a 911 call. Officers made contact with the caller, who stated that her daughter was unresponsive. Officers observed that the subject was not breathing and began CPR. PCAD and Sedalia Fire arrived on the scene minutes later, and continued CPR. Other livesaving measures were taken, but none were successful. The subject was pronounced deceased by PCAD, and no foul play is detected.

Officers conducted a traffic stop on a passenger vehicle Saturday morning for not having operational license plate lights. After checking the driver's information, Dispatch advised Officers that the driver did not have a valid license. Monica R. Garcia, 42, of Sedalia, was placed under arrest for Driving Without A Valid License and transported to the Police Department for processing.

Sedalia Police responded with medical personnel to the 1600 block of West 5th Street Sunday night for a report of an unconscious person. The subject was transported to the Bothwell Regional Health Center by PCAD for treatment.

Early Monday morning, a vehicle was stopped for not having a front license plate in the area of East 15th Street and South Ingram Avenue. A warrant check of an occupant revealed he had a $60 cash only bond on a Sedalia Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Operating a Vehicle on a Highway Without a Valid License. Deontay Marcall Pearson Daniels, 23, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail on the warrant.

Officers responded to the 1300 block of South Ohio for a theft report Sunday night. After speaking with Steven R. Bartlett, it was determined that someone cut the cable lock off of his bike and the pole it was attached to, and stole the bicycle. There is no suspect information at the time of the report.

Early Saturday morning, a SUV was stopped in the area of West 14th Street and South Limit Avenue for moving violations. The plates also were registered to a separate vehicle. After an investigation, it was determined the driver was intoxicated. Destyni Justyine Speidel-Florence, 22, of Lincoln, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and Speeding. Speidel-Florence was transported to the Sedalia Police Headquarters, issued municipal citations, and released to a sober driver.

Friday evening, Sedalia Police were dispatched to the Ace Hardware store, 1010 Thompson Avenue, in reference to a theft. A female suspect entered the store alone and grabbed a box containing two drills. She then walked out the front door and got in the passenger seat of a 2001 red Mercury Cougar and left the scene.

Saturday night, Officers were dispatched to the 700 block of West 4th Street in reference to a theft. The victim's grandson took her debit card and made several small purchases at a gas station before returning home and giving her back her debit card. A juvenile referral is being completed.

Sedalia Police responded to the Centennial Park, 1500 East 16th Street, Friday evening for a report of an assault. A juvenile victim reported being assaulted in the park. The victim reported losing consciousness during the assault and was later treated at the Bothwell Regional Health Center. The suspect turned himself in on Saturday. A charge of Assault in the 2nd Degree is being requested through the juvenile office.

Sunday morning, a truck was stopped in the area of South Marshall Avenue and East Broadway Boulevard for failing to maintain its lane several times. After an investigation, it was determined that the driver was intoxicated. Jose Ulises Guevara, 57, of Sedalia, was placed under arrest, transported to the Sedalia Police Headquarters, and then released to a sober person. Charges of Driving While Intoxicated and Improper Lane Usage are pending with a court date.

Saturday morning, the Sedalia Police Department took a harassment report at the American Inn, located at 1217 South Limit Avenue. Mayuriben B. Patel reported that the suspect threatened to vandalize the business.

Sedalia Police stopped a vehicle for speeding in the 3200 block of West Main Street Sunday morning. A check of the driver through Dispatch indicated that he had three Failure to Appear warrants, in addition to having a suspended license out of Missouri. One FTA warrant was from Benton County on original charges of Speeding, with a $200 cash or surety bond. Two warrants were from Pettis County and they were Failure to Appear warrants with original charges of Failure to Register a Motor Vehicle and Speeding, with a $129 cash only bond, and a $231 cash only bond respectively. Osvaldo Sebastian, 19 of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail on his warrants as well as new charges of Driving While Suspended and Speeding.

Saturday afternoon, a traffic complaint was called in reference to a van driving erratically on the roadway. The van made it to the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard, where it struck a vehicle. The driver attempted to leave the scene, but was captured by law enforcement. Maynor E. Godinez-Sanchez, Homeless, was arrested and transported to the Sedalia Police Headquarters and then the Pettis County Jail. Godinez-Sanchez attempted to bribe the arresting Officer. Godinez-Sanchez was booked in on a 24 hour hold on state charges of Bribery of a Public Official, Driving While Intoxicated (Prior Offender), Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Driving Without a Valid License, and Property Damage in the 1st Degree.

Late Saturday night, Officers made contact with a subject in a dumpster near the 600 block of South Ohio Avenue. After identifying the subject, she was found to have an active Sedalia Municipal warrant for Failure to Appear on original charges of Trespassing. Nichole S. Bierschbach, 39, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail. Bond on the warrant was set at $100 cash only.

Officers performed a traffic stop Saturday evening on a Nissan SUV as the license plates on the vehicle were registered to a Kia. The traffic stop took place in the area of West Main Street and South State Fair Boulevard. Officers spoke to the driver, and performed a computer check through Dispatch. It was learned the driver had an active Failure to Appear warrant for a traffic offense from Pettis County. Joseph Lee Hensley, 40, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was given a bond $60 cash only.

On the morning of August 31st, Sedalia Police responded to the 1400 block of South Moniteau Avenue for a bicycle theft. On arrival, Officers made contact with the caller, who had video of the incident. It was determined that a juvenile had stolen the bike. It was later recovered and returned. A juvenile referral has been completed for the theft. During the investigation, it was determined a subject related to the juvenile had a warrant for his arrest for Probation Violation with no bond. Arthur G. Phillips, 28 of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail on his Probation Violation warrant on original charges of felony Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.

Saturday morning, Officers were dispatched to the Open Door, 612 South Hancock Avenue, for a report of a homeless woman sleeping on a couch in front of the business. When Officers arrived, they made contact with the suspect and checked her information. A short time later, Officers were informed that she had felony Probation Violation warrant. Officers arrested Michele L. Bradley, 26, Homeless, and transported her to the Pettis County Jail. Bradley was held pending she post bond for $1,000 cash or surety.

Friday evening, Officers responded to the 900 block of South Missouri Avenue in reference to a found property call. Jeremy Bradley stated he found a small baggie with a crystal like substance in it on the sidewalk in front of the house. The Officer collected the baggie and placed it into evidence for destruction.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 1700 block of South Grand Avenue Saturday morning for violation of an order of protection. Upon arrival, the suspect had already left, but was located in the 1500 block of South Osage Avenue shortly after. Brandon J. Cooper, 32, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 24 hour hold pending the filing of charges.

Friday morning, Officers responded to the Probation and Parole Office, 205 Thompson Road, for a warrant check. On arrival, Officers made contact with the subject. A computer check confirmed him to have two Pettis County warrants and a Johnson County warrant, all for probation violations. Christopher D. Mckinzie, 38, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail. The Johnson County warrant was a parole violation for felony Driving While Intoxicated. The Pettis County parole violation warrants were for felony Driving While Suspended, and felony Domestic Assault in the 3rd Degree. Total bond on all three warrants was set at $9,000 cash and $5,000 surety.

Sedalia Police made contact with a suspect in the 700 block of South Moniteau Avenue Friday afternoon. Austin Kenlee Bale, 23, of Sedalia, was arrested on his outstanding warrant for Resisting Arrest. Bale was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was given a court date a bond set at $1,500 cash or surety.

On the afternoon of August 31st, a vehicle stop was made at West Broadway Boulevard and South Vermont Avenue for traffic violations. A probable cause search was conducted due to the odor of illegal drugs. The search resulted in drug paraphernalia and marijuana being found. The items were seized for destruction. The driver was given a verbal warning and released from the scene.

Sedalia Police performed a traffic stop on a brown Ford F-150 on the afternoon of August 25th for a stop sign violation near South Ohio Avenue and West 24th Street. Officers made contact with the driver, and a check through Dispatch showed him to have an active warrant out of Pettis County for Failure to Appear on an original charge of Speeding. He was also shown to be a suspended driver. John T. Johnson, 30, of Sedalia, was placed under arrest and transported to the Pettis County Jail. Johnson was booked in on his warrant with a bond set at $234 cash. Additional charges of Driving While Suspended are also being requested.

The Sedalia Police took a report of a stolen vehicle from Enrique Canseco on the afternoon of August 31st. Canseco reported his vehicle was stolen approximately one month ago from his residence in the 400 block of East 7th Street.

Officers responded to the 500 block of West 6th Street for a warrant check on the morning of August 25th. On arrival, Officers made contact with Roy L. Neighbors, 51, of Sedalia. A computer check through Dispatch confirmed him to have an active Failure to Appear warrant out of Cooper County on original charges of Property Damage in the 2nd Degree. Neighbors was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where bond was set at $500 cash only.
